About the Webinar:
The webinar, organized by the IWG Eastern Mediterranean Regional Hub, will take place on the 5th of June 2023 at 12:00pm UTC. It serves as a platform to highlight the national stories and experiences of countries in the EMR in their pursuit of UHC. The event will feature keynote speaker Dr. Shehla Zaidi, and a panel of emerging public health professionals from around the region, who will deliver key insights on the current state of UHC at the national level in their own countries, and lessons that can be draw regionally to advance action. Following these presentations, there will be an interactive discussion involving a larger audience, including public health professionals from the EMR.

The IWG Eastern Mediterranean Regional Hub’s Regional Flagship Initiative focuses on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) as a key priority. UHC is defined as providing all individuals with access to quality health services when and where they need them, without facing financial hardship. This aligns with the vision outlined in the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1978, which recognized health as a fundamental human right and emphasized the importance of primary healthcare in achieving health for all.
